Enrichment Classes

Enrichment Classes

Co-Curricular Enrichment Classes are an important hallmark of our school. The following Enrichment Classes are included in the 2018-2019 Good Shepherd academic calendar:

Computer Science & Technology

Kindergarten-8th graders learn programming along with essential computer hardware, software and Internet services using the MIT approved Creative Computing curriculum.

Physical Education

Kindergarten through 8th graders have two weekly PE classes which are divided into six-week sessions, which include soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball.

All students learn the phonetics, grammar and vocabulary of the Spanish language. They explore the culture, history and geography of Spanish-speaking countries. Students master simple phrases which they can use in everyday life. Middle school students graduate from 8th grade with high school Spanish credit.

Weekly library classes with our staff librarian help foster an interest in reading and research. Our 7,000+ volume collection is a great resource for student projects and recreational enjoyment. Students have the opportunity to check out books every week.

Students worship together as a community in weekly chapel services which follow the liturgical year. Rev. Ross Wright, rector of The Church of the Good Shepherd, leads these Wednesday services in the beautiful, historic church.  Parents and family members are always welcome to attend the GSES chapel service.

Lego Robotics Team

GSES is in it’s ninth year of Lego Robotics through First Lego League (FLL). Our middle-schoolers compete along with teams world-wide to program their robot to complete assigned missions, and to solve a real world problem through research based on the annual FLL theme. The team meets twice a week for the season from August-November and then competes in a regional competition in November. Teams are judged based on Robot Design, Teamwork, Completing Robot Missions and the Research Project.
