Is Good Shepherd Episcopal School Accredited?
Yes, we are accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.
What is your average class size?
We try to keep all classes under 15 students.
Will 8th graders be Eligible for Exam Exemption this year?
Students holding an A average at the time of end of year exams my elect to waive final exams except for Algebra and Spanish.
What are school hours?
School hours are 8:15 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. Students may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. and extend their afternoon through 5:30 p.m. as part of our extended day program.
What enrichments do students have each week and how frequently are they offered?
Good Shepherd students have art, physical education and Spanish enrichment classes twice a week during the academic year. Students also attend Computer Science, Instructional Support and Library enrichment classes weekly.
What high schools have Good Shepherd Episcopal School graduates attended?
Good Shepherd graduates attend a wide variety of public and private high schools including Maggie Walker Governor’s School, CodeRVA, Trinity Episcopal, Open High, Collegiate, Steward School, St. Gertrude’s and Community High School.
What do students wear to school?
School Uniform

Girls
Navy blue, red, or white collared shirt with GSES logo from Land’s End Uniforms. Collared shirt may also be a button-down Oxford shirt, collared blouse, or Polo (short or long-sleeved). On Wednesdays, students should wear the GSES Plaid jumper, navy blue, or khaki shorts, skort, skirt, or pants for chapel.

Boys
Navy blue, red, or white collared shirt with GSES logo from Land’s End Uniforms. Collared shirt may also be a button-down Oxford shirt or Polo (short or long-sleeved). On Wednesdays, students should wear navy blue or khaki shorts or pants. Flat or pleated poplin styles only, no cargo styles.

On Non-Uniform days (most Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays):

Students must wear collared shirts or turtlenecks. Shirts with collars must be worn under sweaters. Henley style shirts are not appropriate. No cargo style shorts or pants. Girls may wear a dress or outfit without a collar as part of a coordinating two-piece ensemble on these days. Hooded sweaters are not appropriate. Additionally, Land’s End leggings (navy blue) with a GSES logo and straight-hemmed blouses/Polos may be worn without being tucked in.

What time does camp start and end?
Morning camps check in at 8:45 and camp begins at 9 AM and ends at Noon. Afternoon camps check in at 12:45 PM and camp begins at 1 PM and ends at 4 PM. Campers who are staying all day may check in for both camps in the morning at drop off.
Where do I drop off and pick up my child?
Pick up and drop off will happen in the Parish Hall at the school. Enter at the rear of the building (parking lot door) and signage will direct you to the Parish Hall.
What if I need to pick up my child early?
Early pick ups from camp are discouraged. If you must retrieve a camper early, provide a note to the instructor of the impacted camp as early in the week as possible.
How old are your campers?
Our campers range in age from 3 (potty trained) – 15 and are grouped in camps by age/skill level.
How can I get in touch with you?

What do campers wear at camp?
Campers should wear appropriate attire based upon the camp(s) they are attending. Clothing should be comfortable, allow free movement and should not contain questionable language or images. Shorts should extend to mid-thigh at least and tops should cover the full torso. Sleeve length is optional, but straps over the shoulders must be present. The school prefers a strap width of at least 2 inches. Shoes should fit well and have laces or straps to secure them to the foot. NO FLIP FLOPS ALLOWED. Children will have outside activities on a regular basis. The school encourages wearing tennis shoes with socks.
What should my child bring to camp?
A refillable water bottle and any items specified in a particular camp description. For the parent’s convenience, materials fees are included in the camp costs. In rare instances, a camper will need to bring an item (such as a Minecraft account access code) but a careful read of your camp(s) description will provide this information.
What medical staff do you have on site?
There is no doctor or nurse on site. Emergency personnel are within 3 miles of the school and a hospital is within 6 miles of the school.
What do children eat for lunch at camp?
Children need to bring a lunch and snacks for AM and PM camps from home.
What is required to enroll for camp?
Online registration, payment in full and visit the Resources section of our website to download our camper medical release form, photo release form and camp information sheet. Please complete these and bring them to camp on the first day. Your child will not be able to attend camp without the proper forms, so please make sure to bring them with you.
Are there material fees for camps?
All material costs are included in the cost of the camp(s) with the exception of those which require a Minecraft® account. Please see individual camp descriptions for details.
What do I need to register my child for summer camp?
To register, each camper must submit a completed registration form, a copy of their birth certificate or passport (if the camper does not attend Good Shepherd Episcopal School), a copy of a school health and immunization record (if the camper does not attend Good Shepherd Episcopal School), and payment for the camp(s).
What if I need to make changes to our camp registration?
A $50.00 per camp fee for changes to camp selections made at least 14 days prior to start of camp will be assessed and fee must be paid at time of change.
How do I cancel a camp registration?
For a full refund, requests must be received in writing on or before June 1. A receipt of email acknowledgement will be issued within 48 hours. Cancellations after May 28 but at least 15 business days prior to start of camp will receive a 75% refund, no refunds are offered for cancellations with less than 15 business days notice, however, the family may change to another camp in another week (and pay the change fee). If GSES must cancel a camp, the family may transfer to another camp that week, another camp in another week or receive a full refund, whichever they choose.
