Lorie Bartee, who has served as the transition and outreach coordinator for Good Shepherd since 2017, has been named the new director of admissions. Mrs. Bartee is familiar to many at Good Shepherd, as she has held several important roles at the school over the last ten years. She has been a trustee, serving as secretary and vice president; a language arts teacher; the transition and outreach coordinator; and a parent, while her three sons attended the school.

With a graduate degree from the University of Virginia and an undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, Mrs. Bartee brings a wealth of knowledge to the role from her experience as a university instructor and advisor, middle school counselor, and middle school dean of student support. Head of School Ken Seward said, “I am so pleased to welcome Lorie as admissions director. Having worked with her in her various roles within the school, I know that she will do an incredible job sharing her passion for Good Shepherd with prospective families.”

Mrs. Bartee is enthusiastic about her new position, “I am looking forward to sharing my love of Good Shepherd with others. We have such a warm and inclusive community, with remarkable strengths to share. To be able to help shape the future of this school community with a smart, hardworking, and ever-fun team of colleagues I already know and respect makes this new role all the more exciting.”

Mrs. Bartee lives in Bon Air with her husband and three sons. She spends most of her free time driving her sons to their various activities or watching them participate in music or sports. She loves to read, take walks with friends, and spend time with her family in Bald Head Island.
