Nature Poetry

student writing poetry in nature

Students across grade levels spent some quiet time this fall along Reedy Creek and in Forest Hill Park taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. After reading haiku by Matsuo Basho and learning about the Japanese custom of hanging poetry and wishes in trees, students wrote their own nature haiku. The poems were then published and displayed on our hallway tree for all to enjoy!

Students at GSES appreciate the beauty of the natural world. These students are working on writing poetry to describe their experience on a day in the park.
